James celebrates “New Beginnings” in Closing Worship

Eugene James, our Regional Minister and pastor drew upon the prophet Isaiah in his sermon at Regional Assembly, reminding us “… the former things have taken place, and new things I declare …” (Isa. 42:9).

Speaking to the just approved Covenant Partnership between the Michigan and Illinois/Wisconsin Regions, Eugene declared, “This is, my brothers and sisters, the dawning of a new day in regional ministry. The former things have taken place and God is announcing this new thing to us.

He reminded us that the Holy Spirit guides us even now as we continue to pray in the months ahead “as we enter this new beginning” in developing our partnership, and as we look to new leadership under Teresa Dulyea-Parker, John Harvey, Bob Larimer, and Peter Morgan.

With emotion, Eugene concluded by reminding us, “I rejoice that this has become a reality… I want to run and shout! But, I’m going to hold onto my chair and say, ‘Thank you Jesus, thank you God, for bringing this (partnership) to reality’.”

Worship closed with Pastor Eugene presiding over communion virtually with participants spread across the state of Michigan, breaking bread and drinking of the cup together.

The worship was enriched by the Praise Team of Triumphant Temple of Praise Christian Church, Flint, singing three praise hymns.
