The Rev. Dr. Teresa Dulyea-Parker has been called to succeed Rev. Eugene A. James, Jr. on January 1, 2022 as Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Michigan Region.

The Annual Regional Assembly of Michigan Disciples extended the call to Dulyea-Parker last Saturday, along with approval without dissent to enter a Covenant Partnership with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Illinois/Wisconsin Region.  Teresa will continue as Regional Minister of the Illinois/Wisconsin Region and assume responsibilities on a part-time basis to provide leadership and overall pastoral care for the Michigan region.

Julie Drews, Chair of the Regional Minister Search Committee, recommended the Assembly extend the call to Teresa to serve as Michigan’s next Regional Minister. Julie noted, “Teresa was raised in Michigan, she knows all about our congregations, she has lots of experience and lots of love for people, for God, and the region.”

Teresa was raised in Muskegon where she was a member of First Christian Church. This is where she was ordained in 1982. She served as an associate minister at Central Woodward Christian, Troy, as well as congregations in Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio. She has been Regional Minister of Illinois and Wisconsin the past ten plus years.

She earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Western Michigan University, with her Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis. She has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Ecumenical Theological Seminary, Detroit, with an emphasis on “Spirituality in Community.”

Teresa has a passion for congregational life. She believes “it is the church as a graceful community where lifelong learning transformation occurs.”

Dulyea-Parker lives in Bloomington, Illinois, and is married to the Rev. Canon Albert J. Keeney. They have four adult sons and two grandchildren.
