Register Now for Michigan Disciples Regional Assembly

Dr. Ron Allen, dynamic preacher, author and internationally recognized leader of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), will be the keynote preacher at the Michigan Disciples Regional Assembly on May 4 at the Blaine Christian Church, Arcadia, Michigan.

“Harmony in the Body of Christ” (1 Cor. 1:10) is the theme of the one day Assembly that begins at 9:00 am with opening worship at 10:00 am.

Online Registration is available with a deadline of April 23.

Dr. Allen is a native of Poplar Bluff Missouri and ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He is Professor of Preaching and Gospels and Letters at Christian Theological Seminary, where he has taught since 1982. 

The Assembly also will hear from Regional Minister Rev. Eugene James“We are Family: Michigan Disciples” – a report on our regional ministries. The session will include a few items of regional business and the election of new leaders. 

Crystal Conference Center will be a special highlight as we will welcome the Rev. Tina Heck, Director of Reservations & Communications for United Camps, Conferences and Retreats (UCCR), the new managers of the Conference Center. Tina is an ordained Disciples minister who will introduce us to the exciting new directions being planned, even as we strengthen our ongoing Michigan Disciples camps and retreats. She also will introduce our new Crystal Site Director, Eric Strommer, someone we know well and welcome in his new role. 

Also making brief presentations will be Rev. Sarah Renfro, Area Director of the Pension Fund of the Christian Church, and Rev. India Bobadilla, Vice President of the Christian Church Foundation.


We have made a limited number of housing arrangements (10) with Best Western Scenic Hill Resort, 1400 US-31, Beulah, 231/882-7754. When making housing arrangements please use code CCMR-RA for the special negotiated rates of $89.25 for a King bed room or $97.75 for a room with 2 queen beds. Room payment will include hotel tax of 11% but will not include sales tax of 6%. Reservation must be made by April 30.

Our special price is good for Friday evening, May 3 and Saturday evening, May 4. We anticipate that the Regional Assembly will end about 5:00 PM. We invite you to stay the extra night and fellowship with Blaine Christian Church Sunday for either their Praise and Worship Service at 8:30 AM or their Traditional Service at 10:00 AM. Best Western provides a complimentary continental breakfast.

BREAKING NEWS (4/16/19): Crystal will be available for lodging May 3 and May 4 for Michigan Disciples Regional Assembly!

Yes, thanks to our new Crystal Conference Center managers, UCCR, and the efforts of Site Director Eric Strommer and COO Kent Shelby, you have the option to stay at Crystal for two nights during the Regional Assembly at nearby Blaine Christian Church. There will be limited availability on a first-come basis for lodging in Cedars, Oaks and Mission House.

There won’t be any meal service and you’ll have to bring your sleeping bags. The rate will be $30/one night/person. $55 for both nights/person.

Make a weekend of it: Attend the Assembly, be inspired with dynamic preaching, news of the church in action; meet new UCCR staff and Crystal Site Director, worship Sunday at Blaine or Traverse City, then take in the sites along Lake Michigan and Traverse City area.
