Stewardship: Energizing Resources for Ministry & Mission

February 9, 2017 Published by Neil Topliffe

Online registration is now available for a premier Stewardship Event specifically geared for local church leaders. Faith and Stewardship: Energizing Resources for Ministry and Mission is the theme. March 4 10 am – 3 pm is the date and time. First Christian, 1001 Chester, Lansing is the location.

This Stewardship event is for all Disciples members, and we especially encourage pastors, church treasurers, and all those involved in stewardship activities to attend.

Rev. Bruce Barkhauer, Director of the Center for Faith and Giving, will lead us as we consider the “grateful and responsible use of God’s gifts in the light of God’s purpose as
revealed in Jesus Christ.”

  • Stewardship is NOT fundraising! It is a faith discipline equal in value and importance to tthat of worship, prayer, study, and service.
  • Stewardship is a “whole life” issue that deals with how to respond to a Loving God who has, in abundance, provided all that we need not only to survive, but to thrive.

Barkhauer was called as the first “Minister for Faith and Giving for Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)” in 2010, after 25 years of parish ministry. His energy, vision, and spirit enhance gifts in both business and ministry. He brings a biblically based understanding of stewardship combined with theological integrity and weds them to the current trends and best practices related to spirituality and money. He is the author of numerous articles, and most recently a book of devotions created for congregations to be utilized during financial campaigns entitled Community of Prayer (published by Chalice Press, 2016).

UPDATE: Thanks to the Commission on Church Growth and Vitality, the registration cost has been reduced to $10.00 for the first member and $5.00 for each additional member, effective immediately.
