Happy Thanksgiving – 2016

By November 21, 2016No Comments

Although the events of the past year have brought both great joy and tremendous sorrow for many of us, we all have much to be grateful for as we enter into this Thanksgiving season. History informs us that the first Thanksgiving event was an expression of gratitude to God by the Pilgrims for the year's bountiful harvest. The extent of our purpose for giving the Lord thanks is much greater than a bountiful harevest because we are blessed in so many ways in every facet of our lives. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)

Please remember the many who are less fortunate than we are, who struggle everyday to secure food and shelter. Honor to those who provide food assistance to the needy. Also, consider those who have loved ones that will not be returning to share in the gladness coming together brings.

May the time spent around the table with family and friends be filled wiht joy in a spirit of gratitude and praise to God.
